My mother's best friend- Kashvi Singhania is sitting with me and consoling me with comforting words because I lost my mother yesterday, she had cancer, last stage. My body went numb when Kashvi Aunty told me that she knew that my mother had cancer yet my mother decided not to say to me.

Aunty told me that my mother's last wish was to let me stay with her and I could not deny her because I knew I wouldn't be able to survive. Of course, a girl who is 16 lost her mother and does not have anybody in her life. My father died when I was 2. He was in the army and lost his life while fighting for his country.

I excused myself from her and went to my room. I sat on the bed thinking how painful it must have been for my mother to know that she was going to die in a few days. A tear streaked down my face, and suddenly someone opened the door of my room and entered inside. It was my best friend- Siya. She saw my puffy eyes, ran to me and hugged me tightly. It was enough for the dam of tears to flow from my eyes. I hugged her tightly and cried on her shoulder. After some time she broke the hug and looked straight into my eyes.

I could feel that she was reading my eyes. And after what felt like an eternity she spoke up "Adira, I cannot even imagine what you are going through, but I can assure you that you are going to be fine. I know it must be tough, but you have to maintain that faith in yourself and go through this chapter of life. And remember I'm always there by your side." I nodded understanding her while my tears were not stopping.

After that, I told her that I was moving in with Kashvi aunty. To which she was shocked but composed herself and spoke- "You are going to share a house with your rival?"

Riaan Singhania son of Kashvi Aunty. Besides our mothers were best friends we both hated each other. I don't know why but we really couldn't get along. But to the irony of the situation I was now going to share a house with him which was frustrating me.

After a while Siya left, and Kashvi Aunty told me to pack my bags, I nodded to her and started packing my clothes while thinking about how my life was going to change.

Adira was packing her clothes and belongings thinking about how her life was going to change. Little did she know fate had other plans for her.

Avantika Diwan- Adira's mother was sitting with Kashvi. She was going to tell her that she was suffering from cancer.

"Avantika!! Tell me what happened. Why did you call me so urgently?" Kashvi asked. Avantika took a deep breath and spoke "Kashvi I'm suffering from lung cancer last stage and I don't have much time." Kashvi's eyes widened and asked, "Did you speak to Adira?"

Avantika shook her in disapproval. "Are you mad Avantika? What are you saying? You are in the last stage of cancer and don't even think to talk to your daughter about this." Kashvi snapped. "I don't want to stress her." Avantika spoke. "Do you even realise what you are saying Avantika?" Kashvi questioned. "Kashvi, I need a favour from you." Avantika spoke. Kashvi determined to help her best friend spoke "Of course Avantika. What do you need?" Avantika took a deep breath and spoke "Marry your son Riaan to my daughter Adira."
